What is a Comfort Dog?
"A dog is a friend who brings a calming influence, allowing people to open up their hearts and receive help for what is affecting them." Louie and Jackson work with us daily at Immanuel Lutheran Church and Martin Luther School, helping our people to recover emotionally from the May 2011 Joplin Tornado. Our dog teams go out into the community regularly, helping to share the mercy and compassion of Jesus Christ with the people that we meet. Comfort Dogs visit nursing homes, hospitals, schools and community organizations and events. Comfort Dogs from our parent organization, Lutheran Church Charities in Addision, Illinois, respond all around the United States to help people recover from disasters.
