Martin Luther Christian School

Betty Lingenfelter

Betty Lingenfelter attended Concordia University, Seward, NE and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Her first teaching position was in Indiana. She has been at Martin Luther School since 1995. She is currently teaching Language Arts – Spelling, Writing, English, and Reading classes to grades 5-8.

Betty is an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoys Sunday school classes.

She has a passionate goal for young people to realize the power of the word. The written or spoken word has the power to change a person’s mind and inspire. “I want people to have mastery over the word. People should be able to use words to express themselves and bring about changes.”

In addition to learning Spelling and English, students in grades 5-8 have numerous opportunities to practice their writing skills. They are given the chance to write in many different forms and purposes.

Because of her love for words, Betty has many quotes she enjoys. Currently two Scripture verses, Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you…” and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Psalm are her favorites.  “May you always have the courage to take a chance is another thought she uses daily.

Betty has several interests. Going to garage sales is not a hobby but an addiction. She enjoys reading, reading and reading. One of her favorite books is Hamlet. She also enjoys; junkin”, being outside- the hotter the better and dark chocolate.
